Interesting thoughts and tidbits

It is a tradition for academics to collect interesting, and perhaps randomly sorted, tidbits which are shared via their personal website. In the era of AI slop and social media, perhaps this is ever more important.

At some point, we may want to archive important videos.

On psychology

  • A video by Kurzgesagt on "You're More Stressed Than Ever - Let's Change That". This video talks about how our reaction to stress has been shaped by evolution, and why this is at odds with modern living.
  • David Foster Wallace gives a 2003 interview with a German TV station talking about why reading is so hard. Remember that this was given in 2003(!) Pre-social media and when the Internet was still a relative infant. DFW, also famous for his criticism of modern society, would commit suicide in 2008.
